Arizona 2019
To escape from the cold of Minnesota’s winter we ventured to the southwest to enjoy Arizona. This completed our trifecta of exploring the major winter escapes of Florida, Texas, and Arizona. We enjoyed all three but Arizona seems to be our favorite. The majority of our time was spent in Tucson and Sedona. We really enjoyed both locations. We wove our way down, and did not take the most direct route. We did a reverse route on the way back but stuck to the freeway between Flagstaff and Albuquerque and did not venture to Santa Fe, but still managed to put 2000 miles on the car during our return trip.
Sedona, Arizona
Assorted pictures from our wanderings around Sedona that were not a hike or sunset watching.
We started our Sedona hikes with a beautiful 6 mile loop up Soldier Pass Trail and then along Brins Mesa.
We finished our first day in Sedona by hiking around the airport mesa for sunset and to visit one of the Sedona vortexes.
SInce we loved Sedona so much we decided to spend a couple more nights there, which allowed us to do 3 hikes. We stopped to do the courthouse butte loop on our way into Sedona from the south.
Miscellaneous Stops Going and Returning
Since we had chewed off so many miles the first two days we decided to detour a bit and visit Santa Fe for a day. We enjoyed the city but with clouds and snow we really do not feel we got a really good look at Santa Fe so plan to return some day.
We had planned a pretty easy 5 hour day getting to Sedona, a snowstorm and accidents that closed I40 detoured us for a much longer day.
